Northwestern University Sustainability and Energy Fellows

The Northwestern University Sustainability and Energy Fellows program supports scholars whose work spans scientific discovery, technology translation, and societal engagement. Fellows pursue projects in areas such as renewable energy generation and optimization, climate modeling and forecasting, advanced materials for sustainability, cleantech innovation, urban resilience, and policy design. Beyond laboratory and field research, the program facilitates collaboration with industry leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and academic partners, helping to translate discoveries into actionable, scalable climate solutions. The program attracts top-tier talent from around the world, with the initial cohort including fellows from institutions such as Stanford, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Cambridge (UK), and AMOLF (Netherlands).

Northwestern University AI 4Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Northwestern University AI 4Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship represents a strategic investment in the convergence of AI, nanotechnology, and energy science, cultivating a new generation of researchers to tackle some of the most urgent technological challenges. A joint initiative of the Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy and the International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN), the fellowship is designed to support exceptional early-career researchers conducting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, nanoscience and nanotechnology, and energy-relevant materials and systems.
