2021 CMQT Symposium

May 6-7, 2021 | Virtual

Dear Participants

On behalf of the Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN), we are delighted to welcome you to the first annual symposium of the Center for Molecular Quantum Transduction (CMQT), a US DOE-sponsored Energy Frontier Research Center.

Quantum information science seeks to harness the fundamental quantum nature of matter and energy to greatly advance computation, communication and sensing having major implications for both the U.S. and global economies. Quantum-to-quantum transduction is the coherent exchange of information between quantum systems, which is an essential element of quantum information science.

The CMQT mission is to develop the fundamental scientific understanding needed to carry out quantum-to-quantum transduction. Molecular architectures provide unmatched flexibility for tailoring the properties that are critical to quantum transduction, and molecular synthesis affords the opportunity to build novel molecular materials from the bottom-up, both of which are at the heart of our research. The CMQT interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, and materials scientists is working to develop molecular systems that offer an exceptional opportunity to explore the interfaces between quantum systems essential for quantum information science.

We are honored to have a truly stellar lineup of speakers for this year’s symposium. These scientific leaders will discuss the critical concepts, materials, and methods currently being explored to achieve quantum computation, sensing, and communication. Please join us for the entire day, or just for one talk - whatever your schedule may permit. We hope that you will arrive with an open mind, ask questions while you are here, and leave feeling engaged and informed.

We look forward to seeing you virtually on May 6 and 7.

Sincerely,

Michael R. Wasielewski
