NAM26 will take place at Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Located in the Loop and just steps away Millennium Park, the Riverwalk, the Art Institute of Chicago and from shopping and dining destinations on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, the venue is close to public transportation including many of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) “L” trains and buses. Arriving at the location is easy. If you’re flying in, land at O’Hare International Airport or Midway International Airport and either drive or take public transit (orange line train from Midway and blue line train from O'Hare) to Hyatt Regency Chicago, located at 151 E Upper Wacker Dr. Chicago, IL 60601.

Social Program

Our social chairs have some great activities cooked up. Make sure to arrive in time for the Sunday workshops and opening reception. The opening reception will be held at the Chicago Field Museum—workshops will be at the hotel and reception will be later in the evening.

CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS PUB CRAWL

Free to attend. Explore Chicago’s West loop and Logan Square neighborhoods on a tour of Chicago microbreweries and pubs led by local scientists and graduate students. The tour will include Revolution Brewing and Goose Island as well as many nearby breweries and pubs. This event will be accessed by the CTA “El” train system (blue, green and pink lines), and local hosts will meet you in the lobby of the Hyatt regency to walk to the train. There is no cost to participate, but individuals are responsible for covering their own expenses.

We welcome all attendees to join us for a discussion on fostering diversity in our field. It will be a great opportunity to network and help encourage an atmosphere of inclusivity at NAM26. This event will be hosted over the Tuesday lunch hour at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Tickets are available for $41 and available through the registration tool. 

CUBS VS. BRAVES

Tuesday, June 25, 7:05 pm. A block of discount seats has been obtained for the Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves baseball game on Tuesday, June 25th at 7:05 pm.  Tickets cost $50 each, and the seats are located in aisle 213 along the 3rd baseline. Wrigley Field is located on the north side of Chicago and is easily accessible via the CTA Red Line train (get off at Addison) from the Hyatt Regency hotel.

NAM26 5K FUN RUN

Wednesday, June 26, 5:45 am. Free: Come represent your local catalysis club and get some exercise before the technical talks. The 5k run will take place on Chicago’s lakefront trail with views of the city and the lake throughout the run.  Meet in the Hyatt Regency Lobby at 5:45 a.m. to walk to the starting line.  The event is free for conference attendees and their guests, and there may be fabulous prizes for both individual categories and regional catalysis clubs. Additional information, registration, and bib pick-up will be available on Sunday at the conference registration. You may also register for the run in the Hyatt Regency lobby on Wednesday morning (5:30-5:45 a.m.)

CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION BOAT TOUR

See Chicago’s historic architecture and learn about its history from a unique angle on a guided riverboat cruise through the heart of the city.  The boat tour, run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation Center, departs from the dock at 112 E. Wacker, a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Meet in the lobby at 6:15 pm to walk over to the tour site and purchase tickets (estimated cost $47 paid onsite).
